Kalookan bishop installs new parish priest for Longos Franciscan Parish

Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David installed 40-year-old Franciscan priest Jerome Ponce, as the new parish priest of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Malabon, during its 4th fiesta mass, Sunday, August 28.

The priest will replace Fr. Joel Sulse, who was elected as 1st definitor for the Philippine Province of San Pedro Bautista chapter 2022-2025.

Bishop David said during the fiesta celebration of St. Clare Parish that Fr. Sulse will still remain in the Franciscan community in Longos, Malabon, and will serve as the parochial vicar of the said parish.

Ponce’s last assignment was in San Jose Tagapagtanggol Parish in the Diocese of Novaliches.

ON-GOING RECONSTRUCTION

Fr. Ponce will continue the current reconstruction of St. Clare Parish in Alupihan Street, Longos. Until recently, the parish’s liturgical celebrations were held in Fishermall Malabon, Block 32 multi-purpose hall, and Block 43 covered court.

The Franciscan priests eye the completion of the new church structure before the next fiesta in August 2023.
