The Church is seen upon by the local media as effective means of bearing the truth and new evangelization, in the midst of fake news and misguided stories in the Philippine society. In this light, the Diocese exerts much effort in making its presence felt in various communications media, especially radio and internet.
To ensure effectiveness and a systematic approach in dealing with issues on social communications, the Diocese has formed an independent Ministry on Social Communications (SOCCOM) composed of a priest-minister, a lay coordinator, print, radio and social media whose members are from different parishes in the Diocese. Networking and collaborative efforts with media institutions and organizations of other local churches enable the Diocese to participate in the formation of a media culture that befits the Christian community and in some instances to resolve specific media concerns such as when Church personalities are mentioned in the news.
